Last night a neighbor reminded me that there was a Christmas service at the campground Ramada at 7:00. I decided to see what it was like and I have to admit I had a good time. Quite a bit different than any Christmas service I've ever attended. One of the park rangers invited a couple of churches, the Grace Assembly on Thursday which I didn't attend and last night the Lilly of the Valley church, a local mostly black congregation. Most of the service was devoted to singing Christmas Carols, and to get in the mood, the pastor grabbed members of the audience to lead each one. A bit of a shock at first, but in the end a great way to build togetherness . A bit of a cool service with the wind blowing off the river, but I think everyone enjoyed themselves.
I had another day of doing little - I've exhausted the local hikes, and other things to see in the area so I relaxed. I did try to take a couple of photos of something new at the hummingbird feeder, a pair of Gila Woodpeckers. They are a little big for the feeder, but manage to perch & drink. The problem is they are not as trusting as the hummingbirds - the instant I get ready to take a photo they are gone.
Dinner will be a hot dog & a salad.
Until tomorrow -
