Well, all good things must come to an end sometime, and today is the day I'm moving on. Many thanks to Brian, Karin Y Valerie for a wonderful time in Washington.

We had breakfast at Marks - It was as good as always. Then back to the apartment to pack the car & head out. Although I had planned to take the fastest route to Babcock State park in West Virginia, as I drove by Front Royal I decided I had to retake some photos of Dark Hollow Falls just North of Big Meadows Campground on the Skyline Drive. The idea was to get some photos with more water flowing through the stream than when we saw it in 1996. Well, even though it is Spring & our last trip was in the Summer, there is less, not more water going over the falls & in the stream. On top of that I arrived with the sun shining into the lens and about as harsh lighting as possible. Oh well, here are a couple of photos of the stream, falls & the view at the start of the drive:

After the walk or climb back from the falls (and although it was 20 degrees cooler I still have to call it the same name as we gave it back in '96 - "The Death Walk".) I have to admit I am carrying 25 pounds of camera & tripod and am 14 years older - Quite a haul back to the car!

After recovering, & mailing a couple of postcards from the Big Meadows Gift Shop, I shot a panorama of the view further down Skyline Drive:

I returned to the fast route to Babcock State Park and got there around 6:30. The lighting wasn't too bad & I got a couple of photos of the Grist Mill & Stream. It will look much better in the Fall when the trees are in color or later this Spring with the rhododendron in bloom, but even now it is a pretty place:

After shooting the mill I headed out to find a place to stay for the night. Ended up in the New River Gorge Quality Inn in Fayetteville, WV. Not too bad & free decent speed WiFi so I was able to upload this page.

Till tomorrow!
