July 31, 2001 (106mi) - Hey, This Thing Eats Gas!
Today we are off to Pennsylvania. First a stop at the Binghamton Giant to do some food shopping & a trip to Radio Shack for a couple of FRS radios. They will be handy for Don, Anne or Carol to help me back into tight sites. Although the Fiesta has a back window, you really can't see much out of it, and there is no back up camera.
We hopped on I 81 & headed south. Stopped for gas at a discount ($1.22 per gallon) station just over the PA line. Wow, this thing uses gas! Of course I don't expect it to do the same as the van, but it took over 25 gallons after driving less than 200 miles. On top of the amount of gas it uses, the V10 engine in this thing is LOUD! I know the Fiesta is an entry level Class A, and I have been told that the more expensive models spend more on sound proofing, but when climbing a hill, or when the fan comes on it sounds like a jet engine! Today was mostly driving - didn't do any stops for photos, tours, or anything else. We stopped for the night at Promised Land State Park, site 342, 10 miles north of Canadensis, along PA 390.

Although the sites are pretty level, we had to use the leveler stack supplied with the Fiesta. I am learning of the things I'd like on the next RV - a back up camera & hydraulic levelers. Although the plastic blocks work, it can be a lot of trial & error to figure how many are needed.
