We made a couple of interesting stops today, all near Thunder Bay. The Terry Fox Memorial commemorates a young man who, with his left leg amputated, managed to run half way across Canada before he was forced to end his marathon near the location of the statue.
We stopped and dug for Amethyst at the Ontario Gem Company, a quarry that, for a small fee lets you "discover" gems. I'm a sucker for collecting so we spent a couple of hours there. They don't have a website, but they are located near Thunder Bay, Ontario on Canada 17.
We settled in for the night at the Happy Land Campground a little past Thunder Bay. Kakabeka Falls is about 1 mile from the campground, so, of course, I had to get some photographs.
