Index & July 20th

August 3rd

Up early to make the 6:30AM boat. The outside shower is definitely a little cool until the sun comes up! Anyhow, we did fit everything, including Anne in the RAV4. Don was holding most of his stuff on his lap, but we hit the parking lot just as they started to load the boat (around 6:00AM). The light didn't have its usual warmth - too many clouds, but they did make an interesting pattern. Took some of the usual photos, including a "faked" Anne throwing her penny. She had already tossed it as we rounded Brant Point. The story is that if you throw a penny over the side of the ferry as it rounds the point you will come back. Who knows if it works - we throw them every year & we keep coming back, so I guess it does!

We arrived at Hyannis around 8:45, drove to the Steamship Authority parking lot to drop Don & Anne & their luggage off at their car. I left Hyannis around 9:00 after filling up the RAV4 at my favorite Gulf Station. Only interesting thing that happened on the way home was in the East bound lane of the Mass Turnpike (I90). A motorcycle officer was parked in the center lane, lights flashing and all three lanes stopped. Looked like it just happened - there was only one or two cars in front of him. It takes a lot of nerve to park something as small as a motorcycle to stop 3 lanes of traffic! In DC they use fire trucks. No idea of what happened or why, but glad I was going the other way.

Arrived in Oswego around 4:00. The garden if full of weeds, a few tomatoes, many over grown cucumbers & squash, and bushes full of blueberries.

So, we wind another Nantucket saga. Had a great time & hope I'm not too tired of traveling by August, 2011 so that we can do it again.
