I finally took the camera with me and took some photos at the town dock. There is a wide range of boats, ranging from local charter fishing boats to huge ships from all over the world. In the past you could walk out to the area where the larger boats were docked. Now there is a gate limiting the walking traffic to owners & crew. I guess they got tired of everyone wandering by!
There was a long line of people waiting for the Hyline "Fast" boat, the M/V Grey Lady. I've never taken any of the Hyline boats - they are smaller than the Steamship Authority boats, and ever since some friends of mine arrived "Green to the Gills" after taking one, I decided to stick with the big boats.

The main reason I went out was to pick up some brazing rod & flux to attempt to fix a spatula. I had a very flexible, thin spatula that I really liked, but is was probably made in the '50's and finally wore out. I tried to find another one like it, even hit a number of garage sales, but no luck. My daughter Karin found a nice replacement in Washington, DC, but after a year or so of use the sopt welds holding the handle to the blade failed. I tried to find someone to spot weld it back together, but again, no luck. I was told that brazing stainless steel worked pretty well, so since David has a torch, I picked up the supplies necessary to fix it. It is now a re-handled, $22.00, ugly spatula (I burned a bit of the edge). No pictures - I try not to show off my mistakes!
David has added a deck to the back of the house. Somehow I was thinking a 10' or so but this one covers both the house & garage/apartment. Quite the project!
