Well, for the start of the second month of this trip I'm back in Quartzsite. I hope the decision to come back a day early was the correct one - I did want to explore some of the hiking trails around Sedona, and today would have been a good day for it. Cool and dry with clear skies. The predictions are for very cold overnight temperatures with snow on Monday so I left. While I couldn't get a refund for Sunday night since they require a 72 hour cancellation notice, I did talk the Rancho Sedona RV Park staff into a Gift Certificate for one night anytime in the future. While I'm not all that in love with the city, the surrounding hiking opportunities will probably bring me back in the future.
The drive back was OK. No black ice or snow, although the temperature was still in the 20's when I left the campground at 10:00AM. I stopped for fuel & lunch at Anthem, AZ. Had a great Buttermilk Chicken sandwich at McDonalds. I have no idea why they are so different at different McDonalds, but so far I've had two good ones & one that was barely edible.
I pulled into Quartzsite around 3:00, drove to La Posa South to fill my fresh water tank, then headed back to my old location in La Posa West. Vincent (one of my Casita neighbors) is leaving tomorrow so we will be down to two fiberglass trailers in the neighborhood. I decided to keep the numbering from before, making this day 25 at Quartzsite rather than starting over again with the Sedona break.
I'm now getting used to running on batteries. Two days plugged in can lead to bad habits of leaving lights on, etc. Running the electric heater to keep the trailer at 68 - 70 degrees wasn't too bad either.
Dinner will be cheese & crackers - the McDonalds stop was pretty late & I'm still full.
