Sunday, June 26 -The Grand Tetons & Yellowstone National Parks, WY Day, 3 - 258.7 miles, 11,657.2 for the trip

It wasn't quite as cold this morning - only down to 41°F. I left to take another try at photographing the Mormon Row buildings around 6:00. The light was better, however not good. Cloud cover killed the "morning glow" that I was hoping for. Still, better than yesterday. On the way back to the campground I saw a wolf running across the road, a couple of elk & some distant Bison. Speaking of sightings, I also saw another Escape 17B, the first (other than mine) when I stopped at the Colter Bay Visitor's Center for coffee. No one was with it. Other than that, a quiet morning.

After a short stop at the trailer I headed out to visit Yellowstone, my objective for the day. I don't know why, but I can't really like Yellowstone. Part of it may be it is so busy, but I loved Yosemite, and was willing to put up with very crowded conditions there. Maybe I'm just not into geysers & boiling water. In any case, I decided to try to stop at as many waterfalls as possible. I did actually meet the people from Colorado that owned the Escape 17B in Yellowstone at the Biscuit Basin stop. We couldn't talk for long since the parking lot traffic was jammed & they were trying to find a spot, but it is a 2008 they purchased about 6 months ago.

I also got my required "Bison Along the Road" shot on the way back to the campground from lunch at West Yellowstone. I was very lucky - I saw them well before they reached me & managed to pull over into a exit. They were blocking traffic going the other way, so they ran by on the opposite side of the road completely clear of traffic. After taking a bunch of photos, I continued east, passing over a mile of stopped vehicles. I talked with a Casita owner here at the campground & he waited over an hour to get past 3 roadside bison yesterday.

Since I had both a late & large lunch, it will probably be some cheese & crackers for dinner. I won't be able to post this until I leave tomorrow.

Till next time -
