The 19th CNY Great Pumpkin Fest - October 2nd & 3rd, 2010
The 2010 CNY Great Pumpkin Fest will be held Saturday, October 2nd from 11-6 PM and Sunday, October 3rd from 11-5 PM in Washington Park (East Park.)
Washington Square Park will be filled with crafters, food venders, fun & games for children of all ages, music, wine tasting, and, of course, pumpkins. Weigh-in for the giant pumpkins will start on Saturday morning at 10:00AM. The giant pumpkins will only be on display Saturday only.
Live performances include Irish Step Dancers from the Kinlough Academy of Irish Dance on Saturday 11:00 - 11:30, The Domicolo/Barlow Band on Saturday 12:00 - 2:30, The Royal Paynes on Saturday 3:00 - 6:00 , The DoGood Swing Band on Sunday 11:00 - 1:30, and on Sunday Larry Stamatel 2:00 - 5:00.
After a very wet couple of days where some of the contestants described pulling pumpkins & squash from fields underwater, Saturday started out cool, but beautiful. There were a large number of pumpkins, squash, watermelons, tomatoes, a carrot & a very long gourd, even a gourd with a knot in it! Some photos of the crowd:

The Weigh in started a little late but ran smoothly, at least until the forklift ran out of propane. George to the rescue grabbing a tractor to keep things going until the tank was refilled.
