Day 163, Monday, March 31, 2025, Smith Mountain Lake State Park, Huddleston, VA - 212.2 Miles, 4,732 Miles for the Trip
Another warm night - it didn'y go below 63°F. I unhooked the water & electric and headed out of the park at 9:15. Lots of secondary roads, some time on I 40, US 220 & VA 122. I stopped for gas at Hardys Mart in Hardy, VA ($2.84). Of course there was a Love's 50 miles down the road.
I arrived at the campground around 1:30. I'm in site 48, a back in site on gravel with water & electric with a hanging pole, fire pit (currently there is a burn ban) and picnic table. The bathrooms are next door, as is the host. All for $42.83 including reservation fee & taxes per night for 7 nights.

After setting up I set my chair outside to dry (it got caught in the start of yesterday's rain) then checked internet speeds. Verizon at 33.38Mbps down & 6.5Mbps up, while AT&T was 31.96Mbps down & 4.3Mbps up. Since I'm within 3 days of the start of a new cycle and have only used 28GB, I went with Verizon.
By then the chair was dry enough to sit in so I enjoyed the 77°F partly cloudy afternoon to read. Current book is Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty.
While the afternoon started out OK, heavy rain & thunderstorms are predicted to hit around 5:00. I thought about heading to a near by restaurant for dinner, but will put it off until tomorrow. The rain started right on time.
Dinner was aa Impossible Chicken Enchilada Bowl.
