Day 177, Monday, April 14, 2025, Twin Grove RV Resort, Pine Grove, PA - 77.3 Miles, 5,146.2 Miles for the Trip

After dinner last night I finished Dana Stabenow's Kate Shugak series #2 , A Fatal Flaw and started #3, Dead In The Water. A quick read since I finished it by bedtime. Started #4 A Cold Blooded Business. I'm not going to read all 23 of the series in a row, but they are interesting books, particularly for those interested in Alaska.

A short burst of light rain overnight with cloudy skies during my morning walk. I wondered why the mirror station WGMS 89.1 in Hagerstown, Maryland didn't run the 5 minute hourly news segments since the "mother" station WETA did and discovered that both stations only run the news during drive times, not on weekends. They both also run the PBS news hour at night.

I did a leisurely breakfast & morning since I have around 70 miles to go to the next stop & their check in time is 3:00. I hope they will let me in early since I need to be out of here by noon.

I stopped at the dump station. I do have a full hook up site reserved at Twin Grove, but the Escape trailers are low to the ground, and some sites have sewer connections that are higher than the outlet for the black tank dump on the Escape.

An uneventful trip up I 81 until I stopped at the Loves near the KOA campground we sometimes stay at. The Loves was very crowded with a class C towing a car having to wait for two parked cars to move in order to get out from the pumps. Took about 10 minutes to get to a pump, but I filled up for $2.91 per gallon using my $.10 discount. Another 8 miles to the exit for Twin Groves.

They put me in site 56, a full hook up site not too far from the bathrooms. Since I'm only staying one night I didn't unhook the truck. Side to side was off by 4", the limit of the Anderson levelers, and I had to raise the tongue 1 1/2". The site is a pull through on gravel with a fire pit & picnic table (although while it looks level, it isn't; if I wanted to use the picnic table I'd have to move it to a level area) all for $51.15.

Site 56

I probably should have unhooked since I remember the diner food 6 miles back down the road was pretty good, but instead I'll be eating the last frozen commercial meal in the freezer.

After setting up I headed for the bathrooms. Individual rooms with a sink, toilet & shower, 4 hooks & a bench. 30" shower with a shower curtain, 2 small corner shelves & a 3" standard shower head with plenty of adjustable hot water. A little water gets past the shower curtain, but there is plenty of dry floor to use for dressing. A rubber mat outside the shower that is hard on the feet. I'd give it an A except it doesn't appear to be heated, at least with an outside temperature of 61°F. The interior was cool. Overall, an A-.

I finished listening to Rylie Dark's No Way Up and am attempting to download David Freed's audio book The Kill Circle. As usual, when the only connection available is AT&T, downloading audio books is very slow or impossible. I'm not going to dig out the Starlink Mini just for the audio book and there is no Verizon internet available. AT&T looks OK at 43.99Mbps down & 24.93Mbps up, but it has been 15 minutes and the audio book is less than half way downloaded. It eventually times out and has to start over. After 1 1/2 hour it eventually downloaded.

Back at the trailer I sat outside and read. Outside was OK (at 64°F) as long as the sun shone & the wind was calm. Unfortunately, the clouds moved in and the wind picked up. I moved back inside around 4:30.

Dinner was a Benihana Hibachi Chicken Rice Bowl.

Until Next Time -
