The fall salmon run is on both in the Salmon River & the Oswego River. Both rivers are running lower than normal due to the dry summer & fall, but the fishing is good. There are some new changes - Brookfield Renewal Power (the owners of the hydro power plants on the river) have added signs restricting entry to the river (and even the banks to those not fishing) unless you are wearing a "US Coast Guard Approved Personal Floatation Device". I can understand their concern since 2 years ago a couple of fishermen drowned when they ignored the warning devices announcing rising water due to changes in the power plant demands. Still, I was surprised when a guy on a megaphone shouted out from a backhoe above the dam for me to "move behind the signs".
I saw lots of people taking home salmon and the usual number of shouts of "Fish on!" , "Coming Down", etc. Even saw a couple of fisherman using kayaks.
