It was a damp, cool start to the 2013 Niagara Wine Escape, but by 4:00 there were already 15 trailers parked at the Riverside Park Campground in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
The damp weather canceled the usual Friday night campfire, but we had a great replacement - the anniversary of Denis Ferkany & Thelma Rimes. Champagne and cake for all, gathered in the campground game room. The game room lights were off so candles, lanterns, & flashlights provided the lighting. Since they didn't have a cake at the original event, the traditional "feeding of the cake" took place here:

I'll add more photos as I get a chance to take them.
Saturday morning dawned cool (49°F), but with clear blue skies. A couple more trailers pulled in & I made the rounds taking photos. Not everyone was home to get in the picture, but I managed to photograph most of them. Saturday turned into a beautiful day with temperatures in the mid 70's. We spent the afternoon touring trailers & visiting area wineries.
Around 5:00 it was time for the pot luck supper. As usual, plenty of great food provided for & by all. After everyone had seconds, even thirds & dessert, it was time to give away the "Swag", much supplied by Reace & Tammy at Escape Trailer Industries. Many thanks to them for their usual donations. Everyone went home with something! Many stayed to talk around the campfire that had been postponed from Friday night. I ducked out around 10:00 to put the rest of this page together.
Tomorrow morning many of us will be going to Betty's for brunch. After brunch I'll be heading back to Oswego, while some are staying till Monday.
See You All in 2014! |
I got up early on Sunday morning to take a couple of photographs of some Cormorants that Roy reminded me were hanging out along the Niagara River. A very "spooky" look; glad they are not Vultures!
Brunch at Betty's was excellent. We all had a good time, but eventually we all had to stop eating & head home. I didn't bring my Nikon, and the 2nd image that includes Alf heading back to the table with a plate of food shows why I hate to take photos with my iPhone. Yup, that is my fat finger blocking part of the picture! Oh well, eventually I'll learn.
