Day 173, Thursday, April 10, 2025, Pine Grove Furnace State Park, Bendersville, PA - 98.6 Miles, 5,068.9 Miles for the Trip

A couple of things from yesterday. First, after dinner I thought about my next stop at a PA state park with electric only hook ups, and with no idea how close I am to the bathrooms and if they have showers, I decided to head to the splash building for a shower. The shower is large enough, has a shelf and a 2" standard shower head. Adjustable temperature and plenty of hot water. The drying area has 6 double hooks and a folding table/chair for your stuff. A bit small, and even though there is a shower curtain and the shower head is perpendicular to the curtain, the flat floor lets about half the drying area floor get wet. Overall a B.

About after dinner. I thought dinner was a Saffron Road Chicken Masala, but I read the box too quickly. It was a Chickpea Masala Bowl. Not bad, but not chicken!

Lastly, I got a call from Escape. My kitchen window with crating & shipping comes to $639.19, $113.60 of the total for FedEx Home delivery. Unfortunately, the quote was in US dollars, not Canadian. They didn't say anything about any tariff.

Back to today. I stopped at the snack bar for breakfast during my walk and had their pancake breakfast. Three large pancakes, plenty of butter & syrup and a sausage patty.

Back at the trailer I didn't hurry to leave since I only had 100 miles or so to go. I chose an alternate route to avoid I 81, and it was all secondary US & state roads. Lots of towns, but only one grocery store, and I was in the wrong lane & heavy traffic so I passed it. Rain started for the last 40 miles of the drive.

I'm in site 54, an electric only level side to side and needing 2" of lift on the tongue jack. A picnic table, lantern hook & fire pit/grill on fine gravel. The bathrooms are a medium walk away - no showers. I'm here for 4 nights at $31.13 per night including a $6.50 reservation fee & a $4.50 per night senior discount. Medium rain during set up so I left the truck connected and used the tongue jack to do the 2" lift. No stabilizers. I'll disconnect if I decide I need to shop, but the nearest store is a half hour away so I'll attempt to go with what is already in the trailer.

Site 54

No cell service. I set up the Starlink Mini & it isn't happy with the trees, but works off & on. I dug out my 50' power cable and found the most open spot I could reach with the longer cable. Better than the first attempt, but still intermittent. When it connects it shows 24Mbps down & 9Mbps up. There is a strong classical FM station.

With the rain, I spent the rest of the day sitting it the trailer reading; current Kindle book is Disappearance of a Scribe by Dana Stabenow. If I go by my weather app, I may be reading for the whole 4 days here - it shows rain every day. It is Spring...

Dinner was a Marie Callender's Chicken Fried Rice Bowl.

Until Next Time -
