I made a 111 day trip across the US & Canada during the summer of 2011. On the trip I visited 20 National Parks & 40 State Parks. During the trip I spent two days at Capitol Reef National Park. The park gets its name (and reason for being) from a 100 mile warp in the Earth's crust, the Waterpocket Fold. Lots to see, some wonderful hikes, and dry camping at the Fruita Campground. There are full hookup campgrounds in near by Torrey.
If you visit at the right time of year, there is fresh fruit for the picking within the park. Some photos:
