Well, I wasn't sure I'd be going to Nantucket this summer since I just finished a 111 day, 18,700 mile trip around the US & Canada, but after being home for a couple of days I decided I wasn't "tripped out" so I called Dave for an OK & made ferry reservations. One problem with making reservations this late is trying to find a date with space available at the times I like to take the boat. I finally gave up & settled for a later boat to Nantucket than I usually take. I'm scheduled for the 6:30 boat. At least I did get the 6:30AM boat, the one I like, for the trip home on the 30th.
It was a lousy trip from Oswego to Hyannis - light rain to the Thruway in Syracuse, then heavy rain all the way to Hyannis. By heavy, I mean windshield wipers going full speed all the way. On top of that, very heavy traffic. Of course I left early, hoping to catch an earlier boat on stand by, but no such luck. So, I'm sitting in the loading lane (the first car) at 3:26 waiting for the 6:30 ferry. Of course I do have my book, and I can use the Steamship Authority's WiFi to update the web page & browse the web while I wait. By the way, it is still pouring! I'll be crossing on the Nantucket.
If anything exciting happens on the way across or on the drive to Dave's house I'll add it later, otherwise, this is all I have for the first day.

Well, I made it to the island. What I'd call a rough crossing (although I can get seasick in a rowboat on a flat pond). I didn't do much other than half unpack the RAV4 & call it a night.
